Foreclosure Prevention


Sometimes, no matter what we do, or how hard we try, events in our lives create hardships that make paying the mortgage on our homes difficult. These events include loss of a job, death of family embers, serious personal or family health issues, and even poor judgment.

When things go from bad to worse, all is not lost. There is a process called loss mitigation that can help people get out from under the burden of excessive debt in a mortgage. The process works to help you avoid foreclosure through several avenues:

  • Sale of your home;
  • Deed in lieu of foreclosure, transferring title to the bank;
  • "Cash for Keys," some lenders will write a check to help you move into a  different place to help you vacate the property quickly, and sell the property themselves. Often, you must vacate the proeprty first, to get hte check.;
  • Short Sale - selling the property for less than is owed against it, with the lender's approval;
  • Repayment plans that allow you to catch up on the default amount;
  • A restructure or modification of the existing loan that will help you maintain the new payment more affordably.
